Blind Dating Saftey Tips

Blind dating is not a new concept. The blind date can occur when you are “hooked up” with someone through a mutual friend that you may actually know very little to nothing about. Blind dating can have its advantages however, because it affords you the opportunity to date people you may not otherwise meet.

While there are many positive sides to blind dating, it is also important to remember that there are some dangers of going out with a stranger. However, you do not have to let this hold you back from meeting new people. When you follow the proper safety precautions, you can enjoy a safe blind date.

The following blind date safety tips can help protect you and keep you safe:

•    Always meet in a public place.
•    Consider double dating so you will not be alone.
•    Always have your own transportation; don’t let him pick you up.
•    Have a friend or relative standing by that you can call if you need assistance.
•    Let someone know who you are with and where you plan to be.
•    Don’t provide personal information such as your phone number, address, etc.
•    Don’t dress too provocatively when on a blind date.
•    Always be alert and observant.
•    Avoid drinking alcohol beverages on a blind date.

Blind dating does not have to be dangerous if you follow the safety rules and stay alert. Trust yourself and listen to your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable, you have the right to call the date off early. There are no rules that say you have to spend the entire evening with your blind date if things are not going well. Simply explain that you are uncomfortable and feel like things are not working out the way you had hoped and then make your exit. You’re not obligated to stay in an uncomfortable situation and you shouldn’t feel pressured.

When you go on a blind date it is best if you do not set your expectations too high. If you go into every blind date expecting Mr.Right, you may be highly disappointed. However, many people find that they meet good friends even if the relationship doesn’t work out.

The important thing is that you stay safe at all times and it really doesn’t matter if it works out or not. If the date does not work out, you don’t have to see him again but if you have fun you can always plan a second date.
